Spiros, a well-established lawyer with a rich background that spans over 25 years, has been one of the pioneers in the legal domain of TMT, data protection, and privacy in Greece. His expertise encompasses a range of complex projects related to data, digital technologies, and transformational tech initiatives, including cutting-edge areas like artificial intelligence and data post-processing. He holds an LL.B. from the law school of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an LL.M. (TMT & Privacy) from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. He is admitted to the Supreme Court.
He is a Scientific Partner of the Department of Applied Informatics at the University of Macedonia and a participating expert in the “Standing Committee on Personal Data Law” and the “Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Justice” of the Ministry of Justice. He is also the Chairman of the Hellenic Data Protection and Privacy Association (www.dataprotection.gr), a founding member of the Greek IAPP KnowledgeNet chapter, and a member of the Board of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO).
Spiros’ expertise cuts across various industries including shipping, banking, IT services, telecommunications, consumer goods, mass media, online platforms, and health services, focusing on data compliance, cybersecurity, and emerging tech trends. He has also contributed significantly to public sector advancements, particularly in the realms of NIS 1 and NIS 2 Directives implementation, FTTH network deployment, and impact assessments for critical eGov services. Prior to his private practice he has served as Chief Legal Counsel at Cosmoline S.A./DEMCO and Corporate Legal Counsel at Vodafone Greece.
