We are proud to announce that we acted for PPC in the groundbreaking transaction of the strategic cooperation between PPC and Mytilineos involving the development and construction by Mytilineos and the acquisition by PPC of solar projects upon completion in Italy, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria. The transaction constitutes the largest acquisition of renewable energy projects by a Greek company both in terms of capacity (up to 2000MW) and in terms of value (estimated up to €2 billion). At the same time, it signifies a major step in the transformation of PPC from a traditional electricity producer based on fossil fuel plants in Greece to a leader in sustainable renewable energy production with a footprint in the wider SEE region. Finally, the project contributes to the energy independence and stability in the relevant countries and displaces 3.4 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The transaction was challenging and innovative from a legal point of view involving five applicable laws (Greek law governing the main transaction documents and the four laws of the countries where the projects are located) and approximately 90 solar projects in different stages of development.
